Efficiencies of some small second-order designs

D. R. Jensen

Statistics & Probability Letters, 1994, vol. 21, issue 4, 255-261

Abstract: Hybrid designs H310 and H311B are compared with Box--Behnken (BBD) and central composite (CCD) designs for estimation and testing in second-order models having k = 3 regressor variables. For linear coefficients these designs are ordered in efficiency as CCD [succeeds] BBD [succeeds] H311B [succeeds] H310, for interaction coefficients as BBD [succeeds] CCD [succeeds] H310 [succeeds] H311B, and for the intercept as H310 [succeeds] {H311B, BBD, CCD}. Conclusions are less direct regarding the pure quadratic coefficients, which are examined in detail.
