The efficiency of ranked set sampling for parameter estimation

Lucio Barabesi and Abdel El-Sharaawi

Statistics & Probability Letters, 2001, vol. 53, issue 2, 189-199

Abstract: The information matrix based on ranked set sampling (RSS) has been derived and it has been shown to be the sum of two semi-positive matrices, one of which is the information matrix based on simple random sampling (SRS). This decomposition demonstrates that parametric inference based on RSS is generally more efficient than its SRS counterpart.
