Limiting availability of system with non-identical lifetime distributions and non-identical repair time distributions

Statistics & Probability Letters, 2006, vol. 76, issue 7, 729-736

Abstract: The limiting availability, or steady state availability of a repairable system is studied. It is assumed that the lifetimes of system are independent but not necessarily identically distributed, and the times for repairing the failed systems are also independent but not necessarily identically distributed. It can be used to better model the real situation than the usual i.i.d. assumption. In this paper, sufficient conditions are given under which the limiting availability of the system exists and its closed-form expression is also derived.
