Some distributions connected with sums of rectangular random variables

Wolfgang Stadje

Statistics & Probability Letters, 1989, vol. 8, issue 2, 137-142

Abstract: The limiting distributions in two partition problems are derived in closed form and related to known distributions which are connected to sums of rectangular random variables. Simple expressions for the number of n-tuples (j1,...,jn) of nonnegative integers for which 0 [less-than-or-equals, slant] ji [less-than-or-equals, slant] r(i) for all i, ji = r(i) for some i and j1 + ... + jn [less-than-or-equals, slant] k are given.
