A covariance inequality for coherent structures

Abstract:
We generalize a covariance inequality for coherent structures. We replace the earlier assumption of independence among components by association, a weaker assumption applicable to many situations encountered in practice. The proof of the more general result turns out to be simpler than that of the earlier, more restricted case.
