Abstract:
Structure, issues and challenges of urban security in the US are examined. Briefly discussed are the parts played by Federal and State governments, NGOs and the private sector, the organization of cities' emergency response and consequence management, some recent high consequence events, the role of universities and colleges in research, training and public awareness, and the need of inter-city collaborations for research and exchange of knowledge.
