Abstract:
Digital audio broadcasting (DAB) is a new radio technology which offers many benefits: improved sound quality (CD quality); signal, spectrum and economic efficiency; station parity; and less regulation. This Comment outlines and describes the advantages, promises and policy issues concerning DAB. Policy issues related to DAB include spectrum allocation and assignment considerations, economic impact and impact on localism.
