AT&T, BT and NTT: The role of R&D
Martin Fransman
Telecommunications Policy, vol. 18, issue 4, 295-305
Abstract:
This paper deals with the changing role of research and development in BT, NTT and AT&T as these companies respond to their changed status as privatized, partly privatized and divested companies and to increasing competition. The paper shows that these companies have fundamentally different visions regarding the role of research and development in an increasingly competitive and globalized environment. They also exhibit significant differences in terms of their beliefs regarding how research and development should be organized.
