Privatization of Japanese telecommunications

Abstract:
This article describes the rationale for privatization of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) and contrasts this with the motivation to privatize BT in the UK. The author goes on to outline the changes taking place as a result of the new legislation in Japan and the challenges facing NTT in the new environment.
