Abstract:
•Air transportation is an essential stimulus for trade in parallel with the intensification of worldwide mobility.•Pandemic disease strongly influenced air transportation worldwide.•The wavelet is used to study COVID-19 pandemic - air transportation nexus, targeting the Eurocontrol zone.•The link varies across time and frequency in terms of intensity, sign and lead-lag status.•Types of flights, country-hub characteristics, testing, vaccination and other policy responses are crucial determinates.
