Abstract:
The main functions of the Committee of The Russian Federation for Patents and Trademarks (ROSPATENT) are described with particular emphasis on the processing and distribution of patent information by the Russian State Patent Library (RGPB), the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Patent Information (VNIIPI), the Domodedovo Production Complex (DPC) and the Reproduction (Copying and Microfilming) Plant "Patent". The collapse of the former U.S.S.R. and the decline in economic activity have posed very serious problems for ROSPATENT, including great reductions in funding and in demands for patent information services, and the main task for the immediate future is preservation of the backbone of the traditional patent information base.
