Patent information on the internet

Brian Spear

World Patent Information, 1996, vol. 18, issue 1, 33-37

Abstract: By now, most of us will have heard of the computer network called the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) whilst an e-mail address is almost a social requirement. A certain amount of patent information is available on the Internet and the author gives details of this together with an explanation of some of the terminology used thereon. The patent data available on the Internet are fairly basic and are unlikely to be of interest to the "professional" patent searcher but, nevertheless, there is sufficient searchable material available to answer many of the questions raised by the occasional searcher looking for technical information in broad subject areas.
