IMF's stabilization programs and their compatibility with transition economies
T. Vakhnenko
Economy and Forecasting, 2001, issue 2, 42-51
Abstract:
The author argues, that limitation of economic policy goals with privatization, liberalization and disinflation does not allow to attain the targets, that are on the agenda during the economic system transformation. Reduction in aggregate demand is shown as an actual target of IMF programs (this target, however, is not compatible with economic growth). The instruments of attaining the IMF's goals are described and their impact on Ukrainian economy is analyzed.
