Knowledge-based economy: socio-economic tendencies

Abstract:
The concept of 'knowledge-based economy' is considered as one of the sides of information economy. The author highlights such real tendencies of the development of knowledge-based economy as conversion of knowledge into an important productive factor, large-scale use of new information and communication technologies (ICT) and informational infrastructure, development of service economy and outstripping growth of science intensive business services.
