Development of Ukraine's agricultural management on the basis of economic sustainability

O. Shubravska

Economy and Forecasting, 2014, issue 2, 62-72

Abstract: The methodology of sustainable development includes the determination of its strategic aim and components in the framework of systemic and cross-disciplinary approaches and with the use of comparative data as well as building indicators showing the development progress and its correlation with selected sustainability parameters at a given moment of time. In accordance with this methodology, the author creates a multitude of index numbers of the agricultural sustainable economic development and suggests their values based on the domestic standards and the operating standards of the agro-food systems of the developed countries with close environmental conditions similar to Ukraine's. Such guide values are compared with data characterizing the current development of this country's agrarian sector. In so doing, the present condition of the domestic agrarian production is estimated in the context of its economic sustainability. The author points out to the lack of correspondence of the current resource provision of the domestic agrarian production and its current conditions to the requirements of economic sustainability. The article proposes various priority government measures concerning the sustainable economic development of agrarian production.
