Education Premiums in Cambodia: Dummy Variables Revisited and Recent Data

John Humphreys

Econ Journal Watch, 2015, vol. 12, issue 3, 339–345

Abstract: The best peer-reviewed, published estimate of Cambodia’s education premiums currently comes from a paper by Ashish Lall and Chris Sakellariou (2010), but their paper includes an error in the interpretation of dummy variable coefficients. Here I offer corrected estimates of the annualized education premiums for each level of education in Cambodia, and I also offer an extension by applying Lall and Sakellariou’s model to more recent data. The result is that education premiums for Cambodia are generally higher than as published by Lall and Sakellariou, and substantially higher in the case of university education.
