Ekonomia journal, 2003, vol. 11
Abstract:
The objective of the paper is to present the ways of financing the development of Polish firms towards the close of the 20th century and at the beginning of the new century. This period was chracterized by an incessant changeability of the financial sources of the business, mainly resulting from incessant changes in the macroeconomic environment within which the economic units were functioning, as well as from changes in the priorities in the activities if the Polish firms in the period preceding our country.s integration with the European Union. The thus set objective of the paper can be helpful in elaborating the preliminary assumptions for the theory of financing the firms in the circumstances of transformation imposed by the processes of economic integration and globalization. In its successive parts the paper describes the changes in the structure of the financing sources of the Polish firms that took place over the last few years, the importance of the capital market as the place where the companies acquire funds for their survival and development, as well as the foreign experience in financing the development of business.
