Evolution of the Role and Conception of the Customs Policy in the Economic Theory and Practice

Ekonomia journal, 2002, vol. 8
Abstract:
In the paper, an attempt is made to identify and present the conceptions that function in the scientific theory and practice on the causes and effects of the customs policy's impact on the economy. This is insofar important as the customs policy is a historical notion, so it is necessary to be aware of the evolution it has undergone in the process of development of successive economic systems. The paper also attempts to identify the general relationships that governed it in its evolutionary process over the past centuries. The analysis leads to the general conclusion that, in the history of the customs policy we have to do with alternation of liberal and protectionist tendencies.
