Abstract:
The use of strategic planning as a management technique has grown considerably in our country during recent years. Although it is a technique which multinational companies have been utilising for quite some time, with undoubted success, only recently has this tool been incorporated within Small and Medium-sized companies. Likewise, its usefulness has been appreciated for analysing general economic situations and a wide variety of fields. The article tries to show, on the one hand, the usefulness of Strategic Analysis applied to different industrial sectors in the Basque Country in order to enable companies to carry out their own planning, adjusting their activities and strategies in accordance with the conditions which prevail in each sector. On the other hand, it describes the work which the Department of Trafe and Industry is doing to introduce new management tools in the Small and Mediumsized Companies in the Basque Country after the development and finalisation of the «Plan de Relanzamiento Excepcional».
