Abstract: The increase of unemployment since 1990 has provoked that many european governments have promoted working; time reductions in the companies and that many trade unions and patrons, in a decentralized way, have signed labour agreements with important working time reductions. The matter of the working time reduction keeps still open, and can become an important element of adjustment in the labour market in order to make compatible the efficiency in the production with some social equity levels.
