Abstract:
This article develops a simulation exercise on medium and long-term employment scenarios in the Basque Country Autonomous Community (1996, 2001 and 2006) in order to offer various considerations reference to the unknown factors implied in the challenges put forward, starting from that quantitative setting. It introduces a debate on potencial sectorial distribution of the employment to be generated: the foreseeable process of tertiarization, its repercussion in terms of size and corporate culture, the importance of small and medium-sized companies, the role of change in the training level of the active population in this process and the evolution of the labour relations framework.
