Abstract: This paper is about the working time policy developed in Germany over the last few years and offers some interpretation on its efficiency in terms of employment. More specifically, the economic and fiscal implications of the various elements that integrate this policy are evaluated: general reductions of regular weekly working time, part-time, short-time work, early retirement and firm specific agreement "à la Volkswagen" as employment protection.
