Abstract: This article presents some of the outcomes regarding the demand for university studies extracted of a report elaborated after analysing 43.000 surveys fulfilled by university students over 1995-96 in centers located within the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. A comparative analysis is carried out for the different territorial areas of the Basque Country on the social and economic coordinates in the choice of the type of studies, and such areas are classified attending to the trends in public university studies as opposed to trends in private universities.
