Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to check the conceptual contents and analytical possibilities of competitiveness, by means of a predominantly macroeconomic approach. For this purpose, firstly, a conceptual effort is made to specify the concrete contents of the term. In addition to the clarification that such a task implies, conceptual precision is also used to identify the central problematic areas to which the very concept takes us. Such areas are related with the area in which the dynamics of technological generation capacities mutually condition economic growth and the possibilities offered by the foreign sector. Each section of the article is devoted to the analysis of those three aspects, analyzing the new development of evolutionist literature on technical change, the role of external restrictions in growth and the latest developments that have taken place in the models of endogenous growth inspired by Kaldor.
