Abstract: This article argues that the full development of the logic of abundance that underlies the new economy and is associated with the 'network effect' will lead us to a limit situation (of perfect competition) in which the typical strategies of 'adopting a position' and 'setting a standard' are not practicable, in which customer loyalty is impossible to ensure and in which training employees in TIC is not advisable, so customers and employees must no longer be considered as such and must become true co-operators with the company. It is also suggested that competition policies should be revised in the sense of facilitating the size of those companies which through ambition and short-sightedness overstep the bounds in exploiting the 'network effect'.
