Abstract: The objective of this article is the analysis of the activities of innovative industrial companies in the Basque Autonomous Community, as well as the analysis of the results that such companies obtain in terms of turnover, export and employment, as from the data that the innovation surveys provide. The mentioned study is carried out from a comparative, and as far as possible, evolutionary perspective. To do so, reference will be made to the behaviours and innovative results that industrial companies present in Spain and in the European Union, as well as to their evolution in the 1994-98 period.
