Abstract:
Regional clusters frequently represent an economic asset of prime importance because of their capacity to boost corporate efficiency and attract investments. Many European countries attempt to apply cluster policies, but the variety of situations and, above all, the fragmentation of analytical approaches, hinder any advances in the knowledge of the fundamental forces that operate in clusters and how to handle them. This article identifies certain theoretical lines that could contribute a greater analytical rigour in case studies, and thus improve cluster policies.
