Abstract: This paper deals with the relationship between entrepreneurship and economic development in Navarra in the 1994-2005 period. Our results suggest that economic development is linked to the entrepreneurial activity of existing firms but not to the creation of new ventures. The additional analysis of a sample of new ventures does not allow us to accept the hypothesis that opportunity entrepreneurs contribute to economic development more than necessity entrepreneurs.
