Abstract: There is evidence to suggest that the creation of companies based on knowledge may be able to help the enrichment and diversification of the productive structures of the region and to raise the economic average productivity. In any case there are no studies explaining the underlying factors in the process of innovation companies’ creation and their entrepreneurs training. In this work we study the start-up process and the initial development of new dynamic companies based on that knowledge in seven countries of Latin America. It identifies the basic profile of the entrepreneurs and the characteristics of their businesses, the obstacles and restrictions to the development of theses businesses and also the key factors for a strategy to foster this kind of businesses, comparing them with the conventional ones.
