Abstract: The different clusters that constitute the regional innovation system overall are slowly evolving. Some of them are getting adapted to the new market demands, at the same time as new ones are appearing. In the analysis of such evolution we will use the international research in the relation between science and technology, which is used as the main variable of the quotes found in the patents. We will use this variable to observe the most representative sectors in the Basque industry and their evolution in the international scope, as well as the place where the leading entrepreneurial groups of such industries intensive in science and technology are.
