Abstract:
The paper analyses the open nature of the innovation systems and highlights the relevance of the external knowledge flows in the regional innovation systems, depending on their innovation complexity and development. The paper focuses on the flows originating from the import-export of knowledge intensive services to companies, based upon an empirical research on innovation in Galicia. The results show that a great part of such services come from the outside of the Galician economy, mainly due to the lack of such services within the region. The import of these services are an entry channel for innovation systems knowledge.
