Abstract:
This article analyses the question of work time in France between 1997 and 2009. The decision taken in 1997 to reduce the legal duration of work, besides to register in a historical process, it is characterized by his ambitions for the employment and his wilfulness. The balance of this reform has generated a few controversies about the number of jobs that we can really attributable to it and the extent of his negative effects. The deregulation policies carried out by the government from 2002 helps to accentuate the diversity of the social paces. Seven laws approved from 2002 have increased the effective duration but they have accentuated especially the diversity of the work paces to which the workers are submitted nowadays.
