Abstract:
The innovations examined in this paper refer to the democratisation of the administration and its contribution to the strengthening of representative democracy. These are across-theboard innovations that affect the process but may also affect products and policies hrough the engagement of the public. In this regard, one major nnovation that has come to form an unexpectedly prominent part of government programmes throughout the world is the establishment of strategies linked to the concept of «open government». The aper explains the concept and describes some of its results. It ends by suggesting some reasons for the low level of development of this concept in Spain.
