Innovación en gobernanza: entornos colaborativos y liderazgos relacionales

Abstract: This paper examines the reasons for innovation in the public sector and asks why a perceived need for change seems to have imposed itself on the traditions of stability, routine and predictability that have long characterised the bureaucratic structure of public administration. It also investigates the purposes of innovation, exploring the areas and forms in which proposals for innovation are specified, and seeks to identify some of the criteria for judging when innovations represent true changes in the status quo. It then focuses on innovation in governance and, more precisely, on relational and collaborative ways of developing innovation in public-sector systems and on how they affect the structures and modus operandi of public administrations. Finally, it explores some recommendations for the direction of the processes by which this sort of innovation takes place.
