Abstract:
This article seeks to provide readers with a concise reflection on a number of changes which are proposed with a view to orienting future public policies in the field of social action. Based on an analysis of the current tax system and social spending in Spain and other OECD countries, the latest problems and the new social scenario are described. The future sustainability of the welfare state will depend on a redesign of current social policies and on the agreeing of new procedures by placing in the hands of agencies certain decisions that can help overcome the difficulties of implementing certain policies.
