Abstract:
This study analyses the influence of size and export activity on company labour productivity. It also examines whether large or small companies perform better in terms of productivity in the field of exports. The analysis is centred on innovative Spanish manufacturing companies. The data used are drawn from the Technological Innovation Panel [Panel de Innovación Tecnológica] for 2013. After performing a Heckprob regression, we find that the export and size variables have a positive, significant influence on the labour productivity of companies. Moreover, the complementarity test run reveals that small exporters have experienced bigger increases in productivity than large exporters.
