Abstract: The objective of this article is to analyse the job search methods used by unemployed people in Spain, with a special interest in the role of public employment offices. The panorama at the European level shows the prevalence of informal methods on formal ones, although public employment offices are the main job search method in four countries. Subsequently, the analysis for Spain shows that people who use the public employment offices are older and with a lower level of education.
