Abstract: The balance between births and deaths on the one hand (vegetative growth) and migration inputs and outputs (migration growth) on the other, constitute the classic components of the population growth analysis. Its main current trends and its known historical evolution are presented here, emphasizing their respective links and interdependencies. Together they show the reproductive revolution experienced by the Spanish population, inserted in a world-wide historical change of unrepeatable and enormously positive consequences and scope, despite the alarms and apocalyptisms so widespread today.
