Polarización y desigualdad salarial en Uruguay, 1986-1997

Abstract: This paper studies the evolution of income polarization in Uruguay during the last twelve years. The results show that in Uruguay the income distribution becomes progressively unequal and bipolarized.The growing rewards for qualification and experience and the growing income diferential between the various activity sectors lie at the root of this process.// Este artículo intenta analizar la evolución de la polarización salarial en el Uruguay en los pasados 12 años. Los resultados muestran que en Uruguay la distribución salarial es progresivamente más desigual y, sobre todo, más bipolarizada. En la raíz de este proceso se encuentran los crecientes premios a la cualificación y a la experiencia, así como la decreciente diferencial de salarios entre las distintas ramas de actividad.
