Abstract: Recently, a tribute was paid to one of the great and most outstanding Mexican economists, the distinguished Víctor L. Urquidi, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth at El Colegio de México. Several intellectuals and analysts highlighted his particular legacy and trajectory, as well as the reappearance of his contemporary contributions that match the different approaches and challenges that Mexico is facing in the current context in terms of economy, fiscal politics and monetary reform. The essay also recounts his role as an institution builder.
