El Trimestre Económico, 2020, vol. 87 (1), issue 345, 249-275
Abstract:
This essay presents an introductory perspective of the “concentrator and inclusive” development model. It analyzes some basic background: 1) the possession of land and agriculture; 2) the primary-export sector and its impact, and 3) the shapes that the industrialization process can adopt. In the third part, it studies the core features of the “concentrator and exclusionary model”: a) income distribution and composition of the global consumption and production patterns; b) external imbalances and foreignization; c) capital formation; d) the pace of growth, and e) the occupational problem. Finally, the options for the future are explored.
