Abstract:
This article is a synthesized version of the introduction to the book Desarrollo e igualdad: el pensamiento de la CEPAL en su séptimo decenio. Textos seleccionados del periodo 2008-2018, published in 2018 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) (Bárcena, Bielschowsky, and Torres, 2018). The present version captures from the original text essentially two elements with which the ECLAC set out, with a focus on equality and social justice, its messages of structural transformation with environmental sustainability: 1) continuity in the neo-structuralist orientation, and 2) a set of new conceptual formulations.
