Abstract: Purpose - This poem aims to present a reflection on the bigger picture of greed and how “hope” is often all the powerless have to hold on to that a better time will come. Design/methodology/approach - A fictional poem. Findings - The poet considers the ugliness of our world and how often “hope” is all humanity has that this ugliness can be transformed into something better. Originality/value - A unique attempt to look at the horrors of this world throughout the ages and how humanity has coped with them.
