Abstract:
PurposeThis study aims to comprehensively review the literature on economic linkages in tourism, offering a timely and relevant perspective in the post-pandemic context. It explores how strong intersectoral linkages foster local economic development, enhance resilience and reduce dependency on external systems. By interpreting prior literature through a novel analytical lens, the review synthesizes recurring patterns, identifies underlying determinants of linkages and highlights critical research gaps. The study contributes a structured understanding of how tourism-driven economic integration can promote sustainability and inclusiveness, making it a valuable resource for researchers and policymakers aiming to strengthen destination economies in the face of global uncertainties.
