Abstract: The article presents the review of petroleum resources state in Ukraine. It is shown that increasing oil production in its own resource base can be achieved by solution of a number of economic problems associated with increased volume and effectiveness of geological survey works, optimization of financing, improvement of tax and legislative policy, transformation of ownership and involvement of domestic and foreign investments on this basis.
