Abstract:
Objective: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate and compare the accuracy and trueness of three intraoral scanners (TRIOS 3, Medit i600, and Helios 500) by assessing their performance on three-dimensional measurements along the X, Y, Z and Diagonal axes. Methods: A maxillary dental model with pre-determined reference points was digitally designed using Meshmixer software and fabricated using a Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K 3D printer. The model was scanned five times by three intraoral scanners (IOSs), namely, TRIOS 3 (3Shape), Medit i600, and Helios 500 (Eighteeth). All scans were produced as standard tessellation language (STL) files and analyzed with 3D-Tool software. Linear measurements in the X, Y, Z and diagonal (XY) axes were made and compared with corresponding reference measurements made with a vernier caliper. The scanner precision and trueness were assessed by repeating each measurement five times. Statistical analysis involved normality testing of the data and then the appropriate parametric or non-parametric test was applied at p 0.05). However, there were significant differences in several measurements along the Y-axis (Y1, Y2 and Y4; p
