Abstract: The wrongly called free trade between the first economic Power in the world and a backword country as Colombia, based on the experience of the Free Trade Agreement (TLC) between Mexico and USA, is shown, in practice, as assuring structural disequilibrium for Colombian economy and society. Mexico's one is an example for analyzing the impact that this TLC will have in Colombia. This process will intensify even more the appendix-like feature of Colombian economic development, inside the current transnational work division. Last, the capability of this country to successfully face TLC challenges results denied by the socioeconomic political conditions.
