Abstract:
The present work is intended to valuate the influence of the Canary immigration from the economic and socio-cultural points of view in Cuba, taking as reference its presence in the central zone of the island. A second objective is to determine subjects for new works and to stimulate the studies on the general subject of the migration and its cultural impact. The fulfilment of these intentions has led the authors to review various historical published and unpublished documents on the subject, which have shred light on an insufficiently studied question. In the first place the phenomenon of the Canary immigration is analyzed historically, determining the moments and essential tendencies, and secondly, the economic and socio-cultural influences of this process in the Cuban society are valued.
