Abstract:
This article aims to contribute elements that help to define a complete profile of the woman immigrant in Italy. The Italian case is very representative among the new immigration countries destiny of Mediterranean Europe. The recent feminization of the in-migratory flows has been an characteristic presented from the first moment in the Italian case. The first immigrants that came from the old colonies in the Seventies were mainly women who went to carry out household activities. Through Censimento 2001 data we have made a demographic analysis of the outstanding characteristics of the woman immigrant, as a whole and also of each one of the 10 nations with more presence in Italy.
