El Ecoturismo como Estrategia de Desarrollo Sostenible: Un Análisis basado en la Teoría Económica

Alma Amalia Hernández Ilizaliturri

Entelequia. Revista Interdisciplinar, 2007, issue 5, 209-225

Abstract: Regions importance does not decrease in the global context of Economic Thought evolution as space-time technical and economic revolution has forced nations to conceive new production systems, compensate poverty gaps, environmental injury and other capitalist system consequences. Eco-turism has revealed itself as a a world strategy for protecting environment and natural resources as promoting sustainable development in certain regions. Nevertheless, case studies question such a strategy, for every significant economic growing implies, in a certain extent, nature destruction. Production increasement is what started research with a general aim such as Eco-turism, as a regional sustainable development strategy. Three action axis were defined: State of The Art in regional sustainable development; relationship between both regional development and eco-turism, and eco-turism importance as an economic activity in those areas (Manuel Antonio Costa Rica, Bahía de Banderas México, Punta Cana República Dominicana).
